QUESTION TO ALL MY FIRE BROTHERS OUT THERE, DO YOU THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA WHEN VENTING A ROOF WITH ANY KIND OF POWER TOOL, SHOULD YOU BE CLIP INTO THE ROOF LADDER WITH A ANY KIND OF LANYARD ONTO YOUR LADDER BELT OR HARNESS?
Personally I don't like to "clip in" as you put it....I like to bite an axe into the roof below where I am working and stay on the ladder with one foot and stand on the axe....I have a partner to watch my butt if something goes amiss.....I in no way want to be attached to anything on the roof when I am venting....might slow me down in getting off the damn thing if the fire decides to vent itself....Just my 2 cents worth.....Stay safe and always remember to Keep the Faith.....Paul
Being secured on a ladder is important. Any time working off the ground you should be secured in some form or fashion. How you do it and by what means is entirely up to you and your Dept SOP's.
