I just redid my department website. It is still a work in progress, but was suitable to put online. I am looking for feed back on it. Please visit the site and leave feedback there or here. Also, to all web adminstrators. Share ideas and do and don'ts here also.
Looks good so far. My company has not yet reached the computer age. Some of the younger guys have been kicking around a web sit or myspace page. I want them to take a look at yours for some ideas.
Just in case some of you are wondering. We use aplus.net for web hosting. I am not html literate so I took the old website down and used a free sitebuilder (comes with the webhosting) called Trellix Builder. All the info remains on their servers, so I can work from anywhere. The goal here was to set this up so that anyone with a minimal knowledge of computers could take over the site adminstration when I am done.
I appreciate everyones comments on my work so far, it is nice to have so many people look so quick. If anybody as any interesting sites they think I could link to, especially as far as fire prevention and fire fighter safety are concerned I would appreciate you placing the links in this discussion, or there is a form on the department website to submit links. Also please post links to your department website so that I can look at those also.
looks good, the only suggestion I have is to get rid of the red and yellow highlights on the home page. To me this is very straining on the eyes and does not enhance the look at all. If you want to highlite it I would do some sort of promtion box and have the entire box shaded to draw attention to it.
But it is far more than our dept has so good luck with it.
I think it looks great. My only suggestions would be to add your departments mission statement and alos to add some color with a photo array from the past and present to assist in attracting attention to the site more. Keep up the good work
