Please, lets comment about different types of whackers in your department. We all have them, now lets see who is the best whacker. Please leave EMS our of it. This is aferall firefighternation, not paragod university.
my opinion only,,but i like lots of lights so perhaps i am a whacker...if so, so be it...but,,,,I really like to be seen when i am setting at an accident with my pov...more lights the better..
"WHACKER WILL"
"You can see these people in the larger population centers where surplus lights are more abundant."
I have to disagree with this one. I've never seen any in Philly, Baltimore, DC, Atlanta or even Nashville. However, I have seen many in rural areas. Some of these vehicles could be mistaken for actual dept. vehicles

why do you bed to differ?... ever see a NYC firefighter with blue lights?..... It doesnt happen man, if you are a paid firefighter, unless for some special reason, you see more lights in rural areas, because funny people live in the woods, and thier are more vollunteer departments out in the sticks.

You know, in Missouri we call those folks hooples, but to ourselves...Gee, I wonder why it is so hard to get folks involved in FREE service...Give um a break..in the words of my wife..everyone can't be like you..
Personally it is sometimes refreshing to be exposed to that kind of positive energy and dedication on ocassion eaven if it can be challenging to channel in a positive direction sometimes, beats the hell out of setting around in a huddle making fun of folks that are different than you.
done with this...be safe lest a "whacker" have to drag you out.....
So I am a whacker because I have lights on my truck? am I understanding that right? Then fine I am a whacker Does that make you a better firefighter than I am, maybe you are maybe you are not but its not the lights that make the difference. As far as lights on POV's who cares "to each his own" why is it an issue of who has lights and who dont, we all do the same job. The only thing we should be worrying about is everyone going home safe. Just for the record I do have a lightbar on my truck and I hardly ever use it because I only live four blocks from the station. So if that makes me a whacker than I am a whacker and proud of it!
