My turn out gear stays in the back of my vehicle since I am most often going to be responding POV and dont want to waste the time to go to the station and retrieve it.

I actually have 2 sets of bunker gear, our dept got new gear a few years ago, so i keep the newer gear at the dept and my old gear stays in my vehicle, which is very handy because I have responded to mutual aid calls for more manpower, and didnt have to go the the fire station to get my gear.

I leave my gear in the trunk of my car... i live to far out......

We ll I lived in New York and we had our gear w/ us ,we had NO room to stow it at the house . I kept my pant in house all during the wet and cold season, in summer out in my truck. Now I live in Tn. ALL personal keep gear at the station in small lockers ,Officers get large lockers.over all I like to have mine w/ me no matter what . When I joined in McEwen,Tn. they did take home ,untill someone forgot , they had no pants on !! just undies !!! LOL. So now its left at the station.

We allow members of all ranks to keep their gear in their personal vehicles. If they wish to rack it at quarters, that is fine with me. Some of the folks live close enough that they are always on the pieces. Others, like myself, are "In the woods".

Not totally true. Our SOG for my first department was that whoever was closest went to the scene, did a size up and assumed command. While apparatus were enroute, gas was shut off, electricity was turned off, and command could then place apparatus. So a lot can happen without a truck on scene, things that can establish a safer job for operational personnel.

Well, I guess if you live close to the station you can leave it there but , but if your run to the scene more then to the station then keep it at home.

I respond out of my truck alot so I have my new gear with me along with my wildland and ems gear. I have my old gear at the station in case I need it.

I only live 2 minutes from the station so mine stays at the station. I know some guys who have tripped down their stairs b/c of their gear.

most guys that live in are town leave their gear at the station, but others that live in the country keep theres in there truck

my gear is in a bag in my car as I respond to two stations. I got the bag because it was easier than hauling it around piece by piece. otherwise I would leave it at the station because we each have designated equipment hooks and boots go on the shelf off the floor so the mice aren't as attracted to them.

I keep mine mostly at the station. I have had mine in my truck the past 2 weeks because i took my gear to a school to let kids see the gear. I think its easier for myself to change out of the back of my truck because the trucks are already rolling out of the bay when i get to the station and it only takes me less than 2 mins to get in my gear but the chief wants to keep the gear at station.
