Fireman who run on scene still..
I still don't get it .. Fireman who run on scene of fires.. Whats up with that???? Went to house fire and to be honest it was a surrend and drowned situation.. This fireman from another dept wwas on a dead run to get what a pick hole ..lol Chief had to go His chief and tell him to tell him to slow down.. To say the least His chief felt insulted that Our chief even thought about telling him to slow down,,, What the heck.. He falls he is under our insurance because of mutual aid... Any ideas???

i learned my lesson on a fire scene not to long ago. i was on the back side of a house there wasnt much light back there i came running i dont know y but when i came around the corner i trip over a hose layen on the ground

unfortunately there is nothing u can do, it seems that people dont understand if they get hurt, and im not talking about it all went wrong and something happened, im talking hurt because they where not careful and did something dumb, they become part of the problem instead of the solution. one of the first things i learned in ems was: Take a deep breath and remember it is not your emergency, u cant think clearly when u are running around like a chicken with your head cut off

Hi Anne, Sounds like a terrible lack of leadership. I believe the analogy is to look like a duck in water. On the surface you calmly glide through the water but below the water line you are paddling like hell. Having a company officer yell, run or act hyper is a sign that that individual has not fully prepared themselves for a leadership position and should seriously evaluate why they are there. If this does not occur, someone's going to get injured or killed.

I doubt he was in a dead run in turnouts. I have been known to jog from one place to another or to get to a patient. This would be only one of a thousand ways to get hurt on the fireground. Whose to say he runs every time. We all slip up sometimes. Try to notice the other things he did right on the fire scene, or did you bother to notice?

Two years ago I had a similiar situation, I was running the scene as I.C. (Asst. Chief) until my Chief got on scene, then I updated him on the situation of whats been done and where and what our and mutual aid personnel were at. Well one of our own members donned an SCBA an went in with another guy, well they came out and refilled the bottles the one guy went to rehab, and our memeber (idiot) grabbed another pack and went back in. When I seen this I told him to go to rehab he told me no, so after knock down and salvage and overhaul I talked to him about the danger he put his health and safety in, In the end He was given an 60 day suspension for not following orders/SOG's. I hope this issome help.
