I know that we get tested for color blindness as part of the annual physical, but we don't have any department rules concerning those so afflicted.
Personally, I know several non FFs who are color blind and I'm always amazed when I find out. They appear to have developed good coping skills in regards to driving and other life situations.
My opinion is that I have no opinion one way or the other.
I'm not sure what the rule is on uncorrected vision, but there is a limit... although firefighters with glasses are provided with a special facepiece mount for the glasses. Although, you cannot be colour blind, we were tested for that before being hired.
Well....can she cook and does she have big boobs...?? LOL.... Sorry couldn't help myself....Guess the point I wanted to make is what difference does it matter...?? Fire is hot not a specific color....might make a difference driving but if they can drive a pov in the States eyes they should be able to drive an apparatus.....Stay safe all and always keep the faith.....Paul
