Can someone tell me what the rules are for getting someone's attention on a fire scence legally? A fellow firefighter is trying to be charged with assult and battery *situation* a friend asked a ff that was in His unit to move, the ff did not respond after being asked 3 times , so he pulled the ff by his beltloop out of the truck so he could charge a line (the rest of the crew were waiting for a charged line) now the ff that was pulled by the beltloop is saying it was assult.
I am just a friend of a friend but there has to be something that can keep this ff from losing his job and being charged for doing his job

As far as being charged with assult that is up to you're chiefs. As the ff not moving after being asked 3 time I probably would have done the same thing.Talk to the chiefs about that I could see some suspention time maybe.
In my area we fall under the same guidelines as the police and as far as I see it, the guy that refused to move so that the service could be rendered, would be "obstructing" the duties of the firefighter. We have actually had bystanders get removed for getting in our way and have been fined for obstructing when they get in the way of our doing our job. So if the guy was in the way why wouldn't he be obstructing the duties of the firefighter? Try that one on the superiors!
You know, it is a sade day when a ff wants to charge another ff for assult, when he was only trying to do his job. If the ff was impeding the charging of a line, then he needed to be pulled out of the way.
thats fucking rediculous i have to say that if he didnt wanna listen or move then its his fault but thats not how they look at it theres no real right way except by there title or last name
This is the problem not only with the fire service but with the world in general!!! To many lawyers and to many people trying to place the blame on someone else when they didn't do a good job.

Reaserch your SOP/SOG manual, go to union rep, start the grievence process if the punishment is unfair.

To deal with the "assualted" firefighter well you can get creative with that. I would just make sure that he gets the message to stop his crying or get out.
Amen to this FireSiren. It makes me sick to think a so called brother/sister firefighter would even stoop to this level of accusations.
