I attended a class today and during it saw a very powerful and moving video about the realities of if we don't do our job safe and take care of ourselves what can happen. The link attached will take you to it. This video should be shown to every firefighter DAY 1 of recruit training. If this video doesn't provide you with a gut check about your safety then nothing will. Enjoy.

That's a great video and a sad reality. We lost 4 men last year to cancer, all of them suffered, some for years. One of them wrote a letter to all firefighters, imploring them to wear their full PPE, SCBA during overhaul, etc. Being a little uncomfortable while working sure beats vomitting your own feces because you are suffering severely from colon cancer.
real eye opener
I don't know how the veterans of FFN take to bringing up past discussions, but i feel that a 2 year span should be enough time for some to forget. Makes me think about my habits. Personally, I don't wish to be on the receiving end of Spanner's last sentence. A little time is all it takes. Maybe others can benefit from this.
