My F.D. had it's Centennial back in 1997. Since then I've been to several Centennial celebrations for surrounding F.D's. I was surprised to find out that some area F.D's are only 50 years old or so, some are even younger! Just curious how old everyone else's F.D's are. I'm sure there's some Departments on the east coast that are getting close to their Bi-centennial.

We were established in the early 1840's so we just passed 160 years

my department is only about 40 years old
our dept in DeSoto, Mo is 205 yrs old. our oldest piece of equipment is a hand drawn cart with wooden ladders, leather buckets and a axe is from 1893. it was made by the local blacksmith shop, that later on around the 1930's became our original station 1
My fire dept. was est. in 1917
Mason FD was established in 1954 making us 54 years old. We have a neighboring department that celebrated its 1st this year. Their fire protection was provided by a neighboring town until last year. Now they have their own department.
The Volunteer Fire dept im on was founded in 1969.
57 years old started inJune of 51

The Forestville Volunteer Fire Department was formed January 13, 1931 so that makes us 77 years young.

Our dept. was founded in 1958.We have 5 stations and 1 double boat dock at the moment.
