Are you saying management claims some member of the public complained because you had a union stickers on your helmets?

Cape May Firefirefighters IAFF Local 3495 are proudly wearing our Union colors on our helmets.

We have them on our rigs and on our lids. It shows pride in our local and "da job"!

Our last Engine came through with the IAFF logo along with the saying "MFD Our Family Helping Yours" on both sides of the rig.

I am the current secretary for the Elkhart firefighters local 338. Our administration does allow us to put stickers on our rigs. All of our engines and trucks have IAFF stickers in the window. This administration took over the first of this year and tries to work with the local. The previous administrations were all ass holes and would not allow IAFF stickers on the rigs. It promotes pride and ownership of the rigs.

We have them on all our rigs, plus it is SOP to have the union patch on our uniforms.

I do not disagree with the pride and ownership part of being an IAFF member. We unfortunately are not allowed to display the decals on our fire apparatus. The last sentence of your comment Kenny is exactly what our current Fire Chief uses against us in this debate... stating the Local does not own the rigs, the taxpayers do. (and he is a past L-president)

All pieces of Local 2068 apparatus in our department have an IAFF sticker somewhere on them (37 engines, 14 trucks, 8 rescue companies, 40+ EMS units, etc...)...we are not, however, allowed to have ANY stickers on our helmets that weren't put there by the manufacturer (leather lids)...plus we aren't allowed to use any personal helmets...just the ones issued by the department...PRIDE AND OWNERSHIP COMES FROM WITHIN EACH AND EVERYONE OF US AND SHOWS IN WHAT WE DO EACH DAY, NOT FROM A STICKER...just a thought...
