I'm a retired firefighter/paramedic from Mesa, Arizona, also built custom homes for several years, am now teaching fire and medical science part time and coach high school football and track. I live in Camp Verde, Arizona, and life is good. I have 2 beautiful daughters and have been blessed many times over in my life and can't complain, but I still do! In 2000 I was injured on duty and forced to take a retirement, I still really miss the excitement and day to day challenges of the job and especially seeing my buddies everyday. I am blessed to have had nearly 20 years of the best job on earth, no regrets!

Hey Steve -

Saw your intro and found it interesting. I've rode with Mesa out of Station 1 a few times in the past two years.

I have a regular column on Firehouse.com and wrote about my experiences last year while visiting my brother in Sedona. Check it out at: http://cms.firehouse.com/web/online/Photo-Stories/Western-Wild-Fires-Up-Close-and-Personal-for-New-York-Firefighter/45$50043

Stay safe. Train often.
