DO YOU THINK THAT A PLACE OF BUSINESS SHOULD BE ABLE TO GIVE EMPLOYEES A HALF A POINT WHEN THEY COME IN LATE TO WORK WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN ON A FIRE SCENE?

Cool; so in Kentucky, volunteers have protection.
However; I'm guessing that your absence/tardiness could cost you anything else-bonus time, seniority points, perfect attendance incentives and anything else tied to attendance.
It's just that it can't be used to separate you.
If I'm reading it correctly, there is some wiggle room for the employer.
And you have to provide documentation.

If it's not covered under your attendance policy as "excused", then yes. If this is the case, then you should certainly discuss it with management. You might find this hard to believe, but people will take advantage of it, if given the opportunity.
Are you in a state where there is a law that says, with proper documentation, the employer can not discipline the employee if they are late for or miss work because they were at a bona fide emergency?
Check it out.
