Well I know that my last blog was complaining about having no action, I guess I spoke too soon. I mean it is never a good thing whenever we or any other fire company gets called, but this week has been eventful. An automatic alarm monday night, structure fire tuesday night, barn fire wednesday night, ems thursday, and an absolutley amazing experience last night.
Around 8 pm, we got toned for a fully involved barn fire on the out reaches of our district. Now I live exactly .6 miles from our station so on my way to the fire house, I could already see the smoke (thick, dark and all sorts of no good) and I knew it was going to be a dog fight. With 6 companies responding and several more on stand by, it was truly an event I will never forget. The fire started from wet hay that just spon. combusted and it burn this place to the ground. I was told you could see smoke from as far as 26 miles away. I have a long day of station that needs to be done now and I have to pick up my little girl and let her know that daddy is fine, just like I always do when i return "in service and quaters" at home.- Charley
