About Me:
I have been involved in Fire and EMS as a Volunteer for 25 years. Due to illness, I am no longer able to continue these duties. I still have a great interest in Fire, EMS and PD vehicles as I have served on many Fire-EMS apparatus committees. I served as an Assostamt Chief/EMS Captain for Deferiet FD, EMS Captain for Great Bend FD. Was awarded EMT of the Year for 1993.
I joined Fire/EMS to help serve my community in their residences time of need. It looks like I belonged to a lot of agencies but I was a believer that wherever I moved to that I was going to continue on serving the community. Although I no longer can provide these services, I still do what I can do to support our Fire/EMS agencies.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Love helping people and the self satisfaction of doing such.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
I think the top issues facing responders is safety enroute and on scene. I feel that today's society thinks that it is OK to use Fire/EMS/PD as "target practice." I will reference the Mark Davis shooting in Cape Vincent NY, where Mark and another member of the Cape Vincent Ambulanee went to the scene of a general illness, just to have the patient pull a gun and start shooting, killing Mr Davis. Then there was West Webster FD shootings where 2 FFs died and one was wounded while responding to a structure fire that the shooter set to get the FD to respond.
