Why I Joined Fire/EMS

When I was a kid my house caught fire and I saw what firemen did. At 14 joined as a jr. under the old Civil Defense program (1952) and never looked back. My hero was Phil Hoh a neighbor who was also a fireman and went into my burning home to find my mother. ( She was already out) He became my mentor
