"I think that you all need to have a long hard look at the provision of fire services to all of the country.
Why is there no universal coverage? Surely some work could be done to provide fire coverage in those areas that have none, e.g. a self help…"
"Hi Fellow Red Knights,
Just to let you know that way down South ( Bass Coast, Australia 8) - Victoria Australia , including Phillip Island, we have an Active chapter. The hard thing is to get away on Sundays when you have other things like training…"

I agree completely, we call them bush fires ( or Grass and Scrub fires usually for small jobs). We use Tankers , 2000 or 3000 Litres, on decent 4WD (10 ton) trucks with decently sized pumps. Tools are carried to cover nearly…"
"Just a little comment from down under - weight? You state that you have a one ton truck with 300 gallon tank, and if my conversion is correct 1 US Gallon = 4 Litres = tank capacity of 1200 Litres = 1.2 Ton weight, plus pump plus gear,…"

Top Issues Facing Responders:
Economic impact on Volunteers, limits ability to turn out. i.e. turn out and lose your job! This especially impacts on daytime turnouts.
The baby boomers - a volunteer generation, now we are on the way out and the next generation(s) need to replace us, this is of major concern and training and appropriate experience is of extreme importance.
