Why I Joined Fire/EMS

I started as an explorer 1996, after watching my Dad and Grandpa, help start the local volunteer rapid responder system. They were both also very active in the volunteer fire service. My Dad is also a 28 year Paramedic.I started EMT-B and Volunteer FFI while still in high school. By the time I was 20, was FFII, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, NREMT-P, Swat Medic, ACLS, BTLS, PALS Instructor, and vehicle extrication Instructor/Specialist. I got hired by Madison Fire/Rescue in 2003, where I was named the Medical Manager for Alabama Heavy Rescue 1, as well as certified in Rope, Trench, Confined Space,StructuralCollapse, Swift Water, and HazMat Tech. I am also a FEMA Disaster Medical Specialist, and Critical Care Paramedic, and recently hired by Air Methods Huntsville Med-Flight as a Flight Paramedic.
