About Me:
Majored in Fire Science in College but a on the job back injury ended that career choice before it started. Was working for ADT 7 years ago and sold smoke alarms as an ad on to the home alarm system and came across a blog about the dangers of ionization smoke alarms and never heard of that type of alarm as home security companies only sold monitored photoelectric / heat alarms. I was shocked to find out that the smoke alarm manufactures were selling the ion alarms that do not activate in smoldering smoke conditions and the UL rigged the smoldering smoke test so these dangerous alarms could be sold. I founded www.smokealarmsafety.org shortly afterward to create public awareness and fight to have ionization alarms banned and recalled for habitable structures. Currently am reching out to Attorney Generals in each State in hopes they will file a civil lawsuit to force the CPSC to mandate a recall as all other petitions demanding CPSC ban and recall ion alarms on Change.org and reaching out the World Health Organization, Burn Support Groups and Burn Units etc failed to convince them to do the what is needed to protect the lives of the approximately 90% of population that have these ionization alarms in there homes resulting in smoke inhalation deaths and burn injuries on a daily basis.

To create awareness of these dangerous ionization alarms and gain supporters who will join this effort to have ion alarms banned and recalled
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Ionization alarms place fire fighters at risk as the ionization alarms can take 30 to 60 minutes or longer before smoldering condition become hot enough to produce particles of combustion that activate ionization alarms. By the time an ionization alarm activates right around the time a toxic smoldering condition burst into flames the flames can ignite the gases causing flash over. The manufactures, UL NFPA duped everyone including Fire Departments early on claiming the ionization alarms were best smoke alarms and manufactures sent pallets of ion alarms to be installed in lower income housing. This consumer fraud was exposed in 1976 after a Fire Protection Engineer discovered the the Government funded Dunes Test was rigged by the UL techs who years earlier rigged their own test so ionization alarms could be sold. The reason was manufactures likely paid them off because ion alarms are cheaper to make than photoelectric alarms.
