Love the fire service and EMS. However I did retire my paramedic after 25 years. I am currently the secretary for the Chief and the department Treasurer. I assist the other officers when necessary.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

My father was a member of the Stamford Fire Department from 1960 till his death in 2007. I was raised in the fire service.

Why I Love Fire/EMS

Its' that Type A personality. It's in your blood. I truly enjoy helping people. I worked for a commercial ambulance for 13 years. It is so rewarding to assist people in need.

Top Issues Facing Responders:

Amount of stipulations on amount of training and standards that volunteers are required to maintain there certification. I realize that members need to maintain certain standards but they should not be the same as paid services, such as New York City, Philadelphia, St. Louis and more. Volunteers are required to meet the same standards even though they are not paid to do so.
