Tanker shuttling, catching the hydrat, or setting up drop tank, oh and drafting

Which of these types of water delivery does your department most commonly use or is able to use, some fire disticts are not supplied with hydrats everywhere!!!

Recently we modified our tanker ops. Our tanker will lay a supply line to the engine and start pumping. We'll ususally use 1/4 to 1/2 of the engine's tank(1100 gal.) before the tanker starts pumping. I refill the engine and continue pumping. By the time our tanker is empty there are at least two tankers in staging. Then we start a shuttle op. Usually we have one tanker pumping to the engine, one in staging, and one refilling. Done it on about four fires with no water shortage.
It is a rare event to have a hydrant within hose lay distance in our district. We rely very heavily on tanker shuttle/dump-tank operations. Ideally (assuming adequate manpower) two Engines will be on scene for fire attack. At least one Brush Truck will stage at a hydrant, and begin filling a dump tank left by the first tanker on scene. Tankers begin a shuttle op. with mutual aid tankers arriving soon (hopefully).
