This is in my town. Thought I'd share it. Happened yesterday.

Two Winchester firefighters were transported to Southern Tennessee Medical Center Wednesday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m. after a back draft swept through this house at 801 Girton Lane and Highway 50.

According to Winchester Fire Chief Gary Greeson, Tony Reed and Kevin McCarter were thrown from the burning structure when the back draft occurred. The Chief said that Firefighter Reed was on the nozzle of a hose and was approximately 25 ft. into the house when the explosion sent him to the front door where other firefighters pulled him to safety. Firefighter McCarver was in the house and wound up on the front porch.

Rural Metro Ambulance personnel responded to the scene and transported the pair to STMC where they were treated and released. Reed had reported back to duty at approximately 3:15 p.m. McCarver is a volunteer to the department.
