PITTSTOWN - Two people are dead after a head-on crash in Pittstown.

It happened shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday on Reservoir Road near the Tomhannock Reservoir.

There was little left of the two cars that collided. State police say a Subaru crossed the center line and struck a Saturn.

The driver of the Subaru, 42-year-old Robert Marbot of Johnsonville, was killed along with his 8-month-old son, Robert Marbot Jr.

The baby was in a child safety seat in the back seat. However, state police say Marbot Sr. was not wearing a seatbelt.

Troopers say the baby's mother, 29-year-old Ami Becker, was riding in the front passenger seat. She was taken to Albany Medical Center with a ruptured spleen.

The Saturn was driven by 24-year-old Amy Getz of Voorheesville. She was taken to Albany Med with a broken ankle.

Her passenger, 25-year-old Patricia Gowey of Schenectady, was also taken to Albany Med. She suffered a fractured sternum.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

“The preliminary investigation hasn't really determined if one car was going faster than the other. They're still investigating that,” State Police Lt. Nancy Poulin said Wednesday night.

Two other crashes on nearby roads killed three people earlier this month.
