About Me:
I love the outdoors and anything to do with white water. Fire and Rescue is my passion for I feel a need to assist those who can't or won't help themselves. My only frustration is the way some react to Volunteers negatively when they themselves able and welcome to be a member and aide their neighbors as well.
I've been in a small rural VFD for years mostly because of my family in this very little town and even though I've left and came back I've always jumped right back in the Engine gear in hand. There's something that seperates those that run into the chaos while others flee in terror... maybe it's courage, maybe it's honor, or the overwhelming sense to help people. My mom always says I just never fully developed the frontal lobe of my brain as a youth so I don't know what fear is..... I can never tell if she's joking or not.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The question is, why doesn't everyone else?
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Lack of community support and misuse of funds by the Government in general. Laws that prohibit the use Emergancy Light on P.O.V.s in our state as well as hinderances of the First Responders and their roles especially in rural areas where time is of the essance.
Richard, Welcome to the FF Nation. I am glad you joined the group. There is lots to do, read and be involved with. Your participation and involvement is important to us all.
