My Training:
I have very little training, except the Wildland Firefighter Certification. Have several other certifications through NFA (Management mostly).
About Me:
I'm 58 years old and the only reason that I went through this rigerious training was to prove to myself that there is no barrier when it comes to age. A person can do whatever he sets his mind to do. But I must also say that Wildland Firefighting should be left to the younger firefighters today. I would not risk another firefighter to have to look out for me.
I'm a member of NWSA (National Wildland Suppression Association.
I have 3 boys, which include twins. One has been a firefighter for over 15 years and the other one about 3 years. They have just embarked on starting their own contract Fire Suppression Company in Texas.
Day Job:
I work for Advantage Sales and Marketing Thursday thru Sunday

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Because I wanted to make my son proud of me. And show him that I could pass the Wildland Firefighter Certification.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
The constant disregard for the lives of firefighters. I saluate the firefighters each and everyone for putting their lives on the line each and everyday and some days never even getting a "thank you". People take their jobs for granite. No one but another firefighters spouse, mother, or anyone else associated with firefighters really knows what they are feeling. The mental stress is unrentless.

I just joined this site, I'm a former firefighter as I am currently a truck driver even though I do local hauling and I am home every night I found working to purchase a house and the maintenance of the house to preclude me from being an active firefighter. My problems were really compounded when while working a local lying detective accused me of the profanity and conduct of another person while I was a witness to an accident. I have the utmost respect for the honest hardworking police officer and their superiors, but the liars should be exposed and removed. The cost to me for the lies of the detective were huge.
