Hey Roy, welcome to the Nation. I have a Kitchener t-shirt from several years ago, one of your guys swapped mine for his here in Michigan at a Combat Challenge. They were a great group of guys.

We are about 2 hours South west of you....come down sometime and maybe we can show you the ins and outs....I'm a newby on the engine...still learning myself but others are pretty good.....Paul

Roy....I am far from and "expert" but I am one stubborn SOB...If I don't know the answers I WILL find them...I am sure that I could hook you up with someone for either a demo or a question answer period....eductor systems work well also...but the extra manpower required was not an option for us...we had a 1 room structure fire in an old amish home and it took us 53 gallons of water to both put it out and do the overhaul...a major log home fire...burned out one end and gotten into the roof...370 gallons of water...Water being a critical element ...works well for us...Good luck.........Paul

Roy...I just came home from the Firehouse...Check out this months issue of "Chiefs" fire magazine...good article on CAFS...I learned something as well...I didn't know that you could run a masterstream with CAFS and foam....They have pros and cons of the system...worth checking out if you need more ammo....biggest drawback I believe is the cost....Good luck........Paul

    Hey my name is Robert
and i know i should not be on her website but she loved this website

Well what can i say. Im really sorry to tell u this but she was ONE brave girl
she got born to love fires and dare devil things that i can not think off doing
but im glad that she never died from her job which was a fire figthter watch manger. She died from her moter bike that she got for her birthday from the fire crew. It was one yuck day with the snow and 60per hour wind but abby was over the place she seem very starnge that day i was like whats wrong with you. And all she said back was im going on my bike be back very soon just popping to the shop and get some food. And i could not say a word back becasue she was already gone like lighting over the sky. i could not bare waiting for an hour so i waiting for half an hour. Then i was in my car and i seen the same colour and paint job off abbys moter bike and i was thinking thats not right weres abby and the police and the fire crew was covering abby up with the bodys so no one can see. So i got out off my car and said i was her bf i should see what happend so they did and all that came to me was her crew and said im so sorry but she is dead. then i said oh ok and how did this happen. they asked the person fromt he car and said that she was on her bike on the wrong side off the road doing about 120 speed well i was doing 60 speed. i was in shock when that lady said that.
so then i knew what happend that she was looking at fire cross the road that has no fire crew there and thought that was strange and when she looked up she was on the outher side off the road and hit the car. She want flying into the car and broke the window thorw the next window.
her last words was im sorry and looked at the fire crew sadly with her lovely eyes.

She was one BRAVE girl i ever know
and we all loved her no matter what things that she did
SO SORRY ABBY I LOVED YOU

    thanks for the vid comment

Are you near Mississauga? I have a friend on the department there, he might be retired by now. Steve Petrosoniac, I am not sure the spelling is right. Great guy, saw him at all the IAFF functions.
  • Bradley Crowell

We get alot of both. We catch alot of fire at my station. Its about 50/50 I would say. Each month we get about 5 to 7 house fires and about 5 to 6 wildland fires. But the wildland fires have calmed down for now lol THANK GOODNESS
  • Bradley Crowell

I bet i was lol. We get huge woods fire. So far our biggest one about 10 arces thats small for us but there was one 20 foot piles an a 20 foot high of junk an trash and chemicals. It was about 30 yards long an 20 yards wide the pile of trash was.
  • Fabulous Heather Days of Summer

Hey Roy: Great to meet you. In regards to retirement, I served in VT. I actually moved out of State to WA, and had family responsibilities to attend to. When I wanted to join a new department, I just wanted to do EMS for a while to limit my workload, but the local department wanted me to do fire too, so I did not join. Since then I have moved to another State - CA - been busy with grad school. But I would love to go back and join my old department in VT. My brother is Deputy Chief of my old department, serving 20+ years. Of maybe if I can finish grad school, I can join another local department. We will see. I miss it a lot.
  • Fabulous Heather Days of Summer

Thanks. We will see. Time is a big deal in my life right now - I am nor sure that I can devote the amount of time fairly to the department. But there is always next year. I appreciate the affirmation of my return to the department and yes, I do have a lot to give - and love being a firefighter. This website has been me dipping my toe back into the water.

    thanks
  • Fabulous Heather Days of Summer

Hey Roy: Glad to see you are in the game for another season. Seems like this has been a tough few years for a lot of families. You wife is awesome, she is so great to care so deeply for you. We woman can get really scared when our men folk are in danger.

I hope this year treats your whole family better. What else is going on in your life these days? Been playing on FFN much - seems like a lot of changing have been happening on here a lot of the old-timers got annoyed and slunk away to pout... plus summer hit and life got super super busy - so no time to spend on the computer.

Glad to chat with you. So very good to hear from you.

Your family is always in my prayers..
    Lady Heather
