About Me:
My medic school class is the biggest group of dorks ever! (but i love em anyway!)
"Omg, wow girl you really are short! your height is a contraindication for a combitube!!!"
thanks guys, and fyi no I am NOT a midget... midget solely by height has to be 4'10" and I am 4'11" thank you much! and no I dont need a booster seat to drive the ambo or cruiser either..... booster seat is 4'9" lol :)
I absolutely LOVE emergency services.... there honestly hasnt ever been a time when i've freaked out on a scene, I just get in the zone and everything slows down.
I LOVE firehouse humor, even as a girl i think its absolutely hilarious, I will throw just as much crap right back at you guys as you throw at me and have a good time doing it!
I feel I owe something back to the community. I was a 26 weeker at birth with next to no chance to live and supposedly no chance for anything resembling quality of life. Now I am 21 years old, and have no limitations due to my early entrance into the world and stint on life support.
I eventually hope to be a joint flight medic/ police officer with the Fairfax County Police Department Aviation Division once I get my butt in shape!
Until I get my butt in shape I hope to be a dispatcher :)
Why I Love Fire/EMS
knowing I have made a difference in peoples lives
Top Issues Facing Responders:
having an adequate budget for proper equipment, training, and staffing -also-
having people that are actually both motivated and competent enough to do the work
hey whats up how as your day lol
anyways i am beat i just got home from a 3 townhouse structure fire and i gotta be at work by 7 lol so i get less than 4 hours of sleep yay lol
so you gotten any structure fires or bad mva's lately
thats sucks
we have had 2 house fires in a weeks span and 3 laast month and we had a really fatal auto accident with 2 extrications and one doa se was 17 it was sad so young yea kno but nayways laborday weekend isnt looking good this year lol
How are you today? Hope things are good. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but it has been busy. Last day I worked in Albemarle we ran two fires and then in Richmond I was busy with shootings and overdoses. You should put an application in Albemarle. The pay is pretty good and we pay an extra $6,000 a year for ALS whether you are an I or P. ---Pete---
4'10....nice...my partner on the truck is 4'11 .....and she can out lift over half the people here!!! When she worked in boston she qualified for a handicapped tag because she was under 5' tall.....shoulda put THAT on the ambulance!! lol
Anyhow....add me if ya can...my add friend isnt workin for some reason...and i can never have too many shorties on my friends list!
Hey Marie! I just read your profile and would like to propose a patch swap with you. I work as a Paramedic in Montreal, Canada. Any chance of that happening? Stay safe out there!!
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. If you want we have swift water training up here every 2nd week in sept. It is a great class that I recommend to everyone. The group that does it is Water Rescue & Recovery Training 847-867-6749. Class is 3 days and in 2009 it will be Sept. 8, 9, & 10th.
Hey remember Cops are just firefighter that checked the wrong box. Remember too that swift water training is not just for firefighters I know police officers that have benifitted from this training too. I wish I could write you more about this training but my heart is not in it today. Yesterday I was on the local news for a Hazmat call we had in our area and I gave a interview, and today when I was going to see If my dad saw me on the tv before I could ask he passed away. I have to plan a funeral and I wish I didn't. I don't know why I am telling you this But I just want to keep you interested in the swift water training, after things calm down maybe I kan write you more on the training. Thank Steven.
being short can be a blessing in a emergency. God made you short for a reason. The day will come when you are on a scene and you are the only one small enough to help the victim. I like people shorter than 5'7 so I finally feel tall even when I'm not.
Hi, sorry to take so long to answer your question...you probaly have the answer by now since you asked this in JULY...long story haven't been on for awhile. TRUCK 13, was a Fairfax County owned unit, it was a 100' tiller Seagrave. It was there for probaly the late 60s to most of the 70s until FS29 opened and was tansferred there and was replaced with one of the 135 foot Emergency One units which is now out in Berryville VFD( Unless that's old truck 10, Berryville has not sure they were twins) Photo 10 might have pictures on his web page, or fairfax county fire officers web page or the union. I would think 13 would still have some up on the wall. You can always go to 29 and ask. IF 13 no longer has photos, it should and would be a woth while project for someone to resurect your departments history on it.
Well hello there my dear.HAvent gotten to talk to you in a long time.I hope that everthing is going well for you.Last I had heard from you your boyfriend and you had broken up and your leg I think was in a cast.BUt Let me know how you doing ok.Maybe we can chat soon.big huggs and happy holidays.
Dropped out of site for awhile due to alot of stuff going on at work. Ditched myspace. Logged into FFN tonight, and see that the knee repair is really holding up well. I am so delighted to hear that.
You've been in my prayers....and it is so nice to know that you are just about back to where you were.

My name is Adel and I am trying to figure out what products are best for female firefighters. I have worked as a firefighter for only three years so I am just getting started. Currently I am a student at Eastern algerinne University in in the Fire & Safety Engineering Technology Program. Although I have only been a firefighter for three years I have had my fair share of small gloves that were still too big and pants that went up to my belly button! I was wondering if you could take the time out of your busy schedule to share some of your favorite/best fitting/most functional products for female firefighters. Weather it’s an awesome fitting pair of pants, A polo shirt that has sleeves that do not go down to your elbows, a pair of great gloves, or boots that have an awesome fit. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share your opinions with me. Thank you very much. Please feel free to e-mail me back at adel_pomper@hotmail.com or leave me a commentDelete Comment
