I loved the time I spent in EMS. Just wish my back could have held out as long as my desire to help others. Unfortunately, the 100 pound rule got to me. (For every 100 lbs, the patient lives another floor UP). :)
I told you I was a diva!! Actually, our agency tries to keep it double paramedic - but you know how that goes. I think we're about to change because we've got a shortage of medics in this state right now.
I loved working with another medic. You got to rotate calls, yet had two equally trained providers if things got bad fast. In the single medic system, the medic rarely gets out of the back of the unit. It also limits the amount of patient care (and thus learning) that the EMT can provide.
I guess my idea was the PRU. A full BLS crew, plus responding medic response unit. The PRU can cover a larger area, without committing ALS units to mundane BLS assignments.
cool....Things are growing so fast around here....I'm in a really busy firehouse here in Spotsy...Hit me back...talk at ya later...Be careful sweety...Darian
Check out Roll Call Forum and put some info about your Fire House in... Like to hear what your station is like, what you have as well as for number for firefighters as well as number of calls. Pass it around to your Firefighter Friends too....
hi... just wanted to say hello... i'm new to this site but not to the fire service. Currently i am not in the service, but i was with the BLM and the Saratoga Springs Fire Department. I am currently in the process of becoming a member of the department here in Moab. (I'm the short, good looking one on the left... ha ha ha
