Great to hear Amanda has had some improvement and I'm sure being home will be a blessing for better healing. 3/26 is special to me also it is my oldest sons b-day (23 this yr). My prayers are with you both, stay strong!
That is great news that Amanda will be returning home soon! The power of prayer is working for her, so I will keep on praying that her recovery will continue to be successful. I will keep you in my prayers too Lorri.
Be safe and be well and most importantly, may the both of you be blessed!
Thanks so much everyone, your prayers and faith and encouragement mean more to me and to her than you know. When she is well enough. I am saving all of these wonderful comments from you all to show her just how much support she has had from people who never met her.
She will one day send you all a big hug and thank you herself....
I had to change my photo to Amanda's. She is just so beautiful that I had to let you all see her. They had to cut her hair short because of the accident, but she is still so beautiful with this glorious face. I wanted you to see who you are all praying for.... This is my baby....
Love,
Lorri
Hi Lori, I just wanted you and your daughter in my prayers and May God Bless her recover over this terrible accident. May God Bless You Always. I pray that you have a bright ray of sunshine each day to make you be so strong. FireFighter Hugh Fawcett Irwin PA 57 House.
Thank you for sharing her pic with us. She is beautiful and I am sure she remains so............Our prayers are with you both. Wishing you a Happy Easter.
You are the best... After I come home at night from the hospital, like I just did, it's so great to be able to get online and get the support from you all. Your wishes, thoughts and prayers mean to the world to us, and I will show Amanda each and every one when she can be well enough to get online and read them again. I pray it's soon. I will really try to keep looking forward, and knowing that you are sending strength from all over the country is just amazing to me.
God blessed us both the day that I got online with all of you,
Love you all,
Lorri and Amanda....waiting for Wednesday, she comes home on her 21st birthday.... It's gonna be a long road, thanks for staying with us....
She's home with me. Today was her first outpatiant therapy and yesterday was her 21st birthday, but she keeps forgetting. She can't remember where she went for lunch and I get so upset. I need you all to keep praying. Her frontal and temporal lobes were damaged, and the EMT who was with her told me she was in agonal breathing and had no BP and just a small pulse left in her neck and was seconds away from cardiac arrest. The helicopter was in Montauk and when her BP came up to 80/60 she went into full seizure and they couldn't get the tube in until she was at the hospital. Her right leg moves by itself and when she writes with her right hand, the left hand shakes. She always has this look on her face like she's in trouble and she's upset.
I ask her all the time and she says she's not, just tired. I am heartbroken over her. Thank God she lived thank God for EMT's and She is walking slowly and she needs to learn a normal gait again.
She is unsteady and needs guard. Cognetive needs work and I can't believe my 3yr psych major needs help in so many areas right now, just hope it's right now. Please keep praying and we can't thank you enough. She is here and she told me to tell you all thank you so much and she loves you...
Lorri,
I'm grateful and relieved to hear that Amanda is home now. I've been praying for you both and I am hoping that with time, all will be as it used to be for y'all. My love and prayers for the both of you are being sent every day...may the Lord bless the two of you. Be safe out there!
Amanda,
Lorri,
I'm sure that the EMT's that saved Amand that night were happy to see her and know that what they did was part of the miracle! You too have been part of that miracle as well, by being a wonderful mom to her!!! Just "keep an upward wing" as my grandmother used to say. It means, as I can describe it, to always be hopeful and believe in miracles...the Lord works in mysterious ways". Don't let the heartbreak and worry set you back, she will get better with time. Another one of my grandmother's sayings was "give time, time, and all will be healed". Do not despair and stay strong...Amanda needs you to be her strength at this time! I'll continue to pray for you both. Stay safe out there!
P.S. The graphic I tried to attach to my previous message was a wish for Amanda to "Get Well Soon!", sorry it did not come through.
Keep your chin up!! I know it is difficult but she needs you to stay strong!! One thing I have learned is that caregivers need some time awy as well. You need to eat properly, sleep, and you need to have some fun too!! You can't give to your daughter without keeping your tank full too!! Just do that for her and for you!!
Hi Lorri,
Just stopped by to say hello and I hope that all is going well for you and Amanda. I'm still praying for the both of you. Please let me know how you all are doing sometime soon. Stay safe out there!
We're doing as well as can be expected I guess. For me, my diamond, my most precious jewel that I held in a glass case high above me, was smashed, someone took her and broke the case and scraped her and scuffed her shine, and hurt her so very badly, that I could die of a broken heart.
She is still so beautiful, and there is still so much of her there, but I don't know if she can ever go back to school, she has no short term memory left. Long term is there, most times, but she needs to be prompted, the initiation was damaged too. She did make her bed by herself, she does dress herself. She is the same, yet different. I don't think I can bear this kind of pain, not with my child. I got over cancer, my husbands' death, but I can't get over this, not with Amanda. When it comes time to sleep at night, I get PTSD, the anxiety is unbearable. Why would God let this happen to my third year psych major with the long black hair, and big bright eyes with that quick witt? Why? I was told never to ask this. What am I supposed to do now?
I have no outlet, and I am the one and only caregiver, I can't get away, and if I could, I'd be a basket case not being with her. I wouldn't know how to have fun, or if that is possible.
Thanks so much for your encouragement, prayers and kind wishes, you are true friends, even though we never met. I wish you could all come over, I could sure use the company and the support of talking in person, but I will have to hang onto this. I thank you so much,
Hi Lorri,
I know that it has been a few weeks since my last correspondence to you and Amanda, but I have been busy. I pray that things are getting better for the both of you. Check your mail here on FFN, I sent you a note. I pray that you will take what I've sent to heart and use it.
