Several training hours as a volunteer then took my emt basic then went to fire academy am certified in the state of texas in both
I am currently taking a Basic to Paramedic class online and I will be the first to say I think I am over my head just a little
I believe that every day that we live is a gift from god and the more good that we do in this world the more time god gives us.
that and when I started the chicks sure dig scars
Why I Love Fire/EMS
i like helping people
Top Issues Facing Responders:
In the Texas Panhandle MANPOWER no one wants to volunteer anymore and If they do they dont want to train or show up they just want to wear the pager and get all the credit
That sound fun. Im sittin here at my fire station doin some school work and doing some required classes that i need to do for the station. it kinda sucks but i have to do it
well there are free online classes that i take. and i also go to school at James Rumsey Tech Institute(i dont know if you have ever heard of that) for 2 hours Monday-Friday and i am takin Fire science and EMT there. No im not in college, but its college credits cause i am still in highschool. The online classes arent required but i like to have them just because i enjoy taking them. The only required class is the NIMS class that i am doing right now. its kind of hard tho but i like a challenge.
yeah, well im goin to bed i have to be up in 6 hours to go huntin wit my bf, so i will be on tomorrow afternoon if im not passed out asleep. Godnight. i will talk to you later
i went Dove huntin today.. well.. i went with my bf.. i didnt get to shoot the gun.. i was to tired and i woulda ended up shooting sumone instead of the bird lol. so how are you doing?
So you did stop at my house.lol.Aww the sound of banjo music...sweet,sweet music.I'd throw that map out before you head back this way.Taking a wrong turn around here even scares me sometimes.I went to the local fair Saturday night and determined I really need to move.Men with white and blue hair and pink cheetah tights, scary as hell. You know there was a day when people talked bad about carny folks, well the carnies looked high class Saturday night.I was so embarassed to live here.People with no shoes,3 inch long toenails.I almost started to pack when I got home.Yeah you really got to be careful in these parts.
well, we both live in the boonies except I'm in civilization in 10 minutes. You should come down here and try to get on a department. It rocks here. My daughter is on NOFD.
Last year no I went this past year. The last time was summer of 07, In 08 I went to the Williams Fire and Hazard Control school in Boumont that was awsume to go to. Play with the really big toys. ranging from 2,000 - 9,000 gmp i believe was the ranges
Yeah and they are all buy here pay here.Gee,could it be no bank would finance the hoopty?I'm thinking about starting one myself...my slogan will be....good for the environment, because it doesn't actually start.Think it will catch on?
Well It has been a big adjustment although it has been a good one. My instructors are awesome. I think the hardest part has just been the time committment to studying I am having to learn how to really make time for alot of reading. Flash cards are great. All in all I love it. Toni
Thank you for the welcome to FFN. New York is in a wonderful time of year with the changing of the leaves and cool evenings. As a newer member to ffn there is so much to see and do here, I hope I can experience it all.
Very pleasant here in Phoenix, AZ at this time. Which is highly unusual. It's normally around 110 - 113. Wildland fires have been very slow here as well. I think that the people here in AZ finally have got the message. At least lets hope thats it.
Yeah, More than you realize. What most people don't realize is that the majority of Arizona is fine forest NOT DESERT. That's where most of the fires are at. And during our Monsoon Season which is July - August and January- February we have over 3000 lightning strikes a night and the majority of the fires are started by lightning, although there is the exception.
All the forests are in Northern AZ.
I noticed that you're from TEXAS. My family lives in Texas as well as I did for 25 years. In Dallas, but now my husband and I own 12+ acres in the Kempner, Fort Hood area. One of the twins is a Federal Firefighter for Fort Hood, and he and the other twin started their own Fire Suppression Company in that area. Its called Central Texas Brush Specialists and Fire Suppression.
Yes, he is. He's working on a contract with several counties to do Prescribed Burns. They told him they would have him busy 365 days a year. He's the only firefighter at the moment who is Engine Boss qualified. Don't suspose you are?
Well OK then. You never know, there really gearing up at this present time. Here's his number: 254-291-1152 William Greg Smith. He's also a member so you could contact me on the members list. Why don't you talk with him, it never hurts. Look at his profile.
Hey Loyd, I'm glad you got to talk with him. He knows his stuff. He has a twin brother, so I figure you will meet them both. Let me know if they can do anything for you. When we come down to Killeen, I would like to meet you. Always nice to actually meet up with a person - makes it more personal. Don't you think?
He's been really busy this weekend. His schedule is every other week, 3 days on - three days off. And during his off days he has had meetings with the Judges and EMS staff/firefigfhters for this prescribed burn contract. He meets with the State of Representative the first week of October. He's a go-getter. I'll put a bug in his ear for ya.
He really doesn't have too many people working for him at the moment. He paid for getting two other guys wildland certified, but they have no other training at all. He said, he'd call you today. Call him back if you want. If he's not in a meeting he'll talk to you.
And if you don't hear from me till this evening its cause I'm at work. So I'll catch with you this evening.
