Why I Joined Fire/EMS
To help make other's lives better than they would be if I wasn't there to help. Also the excitement and challenge.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Helping people when they are in a great, immediate time of need.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Heart attacks being the top killer of firefighters.
Hey nice pic you sent me... Who shot that video you have of the fire? Was that your from your helmet cam? I would say know because I didn't hear any of us on there...
Thanks for dropping by Eric. I have just visited your site. You've serve in the service? I have a new member in our brigade a retired U.S. Air Force serviceman who've serve Iraq and participated in operation "Balikatan" (shoulder-to-shoulder). He fell in love with our country and married a local here. He is a trained firefighter in the USAF and a Paramedic. We've been blessed with this great person to help out in uplifting the so infant stage EMS in our city. He is in my friends link if you like to check it out. Looking forward to exchange of ideas and to chat with you ( I use Yahoo messenger). Yes, our weather is getting warmer and this month is our fire prevention month. Other than the month of March is beginning of summer - for us .... more fires. Again thanks for dropping. Feel free look around at our website. TCSS, Mike
Our wildfire season is tailing off now, hopefully. The weather is cooler, there has been some rain, all good. The season was the worst ver for fatalities, but other years have seen bigger fires. The problem is always when fires get near to towns - out in the bush (you'd call it the forests) it just burns trees - only the tree-huggers get upset!
We seem to be coping (there will be some people who are effected more than others) but CIS support is very good here. Today we had a luntime BBQ at the Station, all families invited as were a couple of CIS Peers. Just a get together and general chat. Was good.
I was mostly in Fob's Caldwell, Spiecher, and AR-Ramadi. But I also in Corregidor, And combat Outpost around Ramadi. I was on a contact team as a mechanic so I traveled alot.
Yes the sign up sheet has been there on the board for some time now... As you probably saw already Mary Ellen's comment under yours... She stated back on the 22nd that there was only six seats left. I have sent A/C Edwards an email informing him of that fact. So, contact him ASAP to get signed up if there are any seats left..... Let me know how you make out....
Also I need you to call me tomorrow or I'll call you... We need to go check on those gifs if you're available..... I'll chat with you tomorrow....
Hey I just sent a message to Mary Ellen to see if there were any seats left.... I also explained to her that I don't have the authority to sign anyone up for these types of classes... So, as soon as you talk to Rich and get an answer from him either tell him I said he needs to contact her at her FASNY email address or let me know and I can do it for him and you.... Her FASNY email is on my page if he needs it - ok!!!!! Again, if he wants me to do it then just call me and I'll get it taken care of for you....
Are you available to go with me tomorrow evening say around (4:30pm-4:45pm) to check for those gifts? I was sick last week and couldn't go... But, we need to get a move on in order to get them on time...
Hey Eric, Still hanging in there, thanks for asking. I'm on my last convoy before training our replacements. Can start to see that light at the end of the tunnel.
Eric,
Thanks for adding me to your friends list. I spent most of my Army service in the 101st. I was a Chinook flight engineer. I was in Mosul for most of my time in Iraq. I flew a lot of missions between Al Asad, Balad, Baghdad, and other places I can't spell, heh heh... I work at Ft. Rucker as a contractor and ride with my Dept when I am not out fishing or golfing!!
Hey Eric,
Just got back from mission. Had a bad moment, but no attacks. To answer your question, I was of the lucky bunch to get 12 month orders. TCSS.
Sorry it has been awhile since I checked in. Everything is going well. Nice to see you at the roasted swan fire the other morning. Seriously though, if I have not said it before, thank you for your service in Iraq. I truly do appreciate people like you and Nathan.
Hey Bro, Thought I'd drop in to let you know all is going well. Replacements are on ground. Will be in my own bed this time next month. Got to see my first USO concert last night, Charlie Daniels was great! What a way to end a tour. Take care and stay safe.
If you send me an E-Mail @ monroe_c_l@hotmail.com I will send the pics I have or I already sent them to Jen and Brit ( the LADIES ) and u can get them from them.
Hi there Eric, finding hard to read your profile due to the blue colour; I’m Leo from Australia, Paramedic; Welcome to FFN hope U enjoy the site and gather many friends during your stay. If you read my profile and think that I am suited; please feel free to add me to your collection of FFN friends.
Cheers Leo
Really busy, the big fire photos you saw was I though would never see this big fire again. The last time was 5 years ago in our city. The fire was so intense several fire apparatus lights melted including us our rear light strobe. Last weekend we are really beat. After a 4 hour warehouse fire, then off we go to a 4th alarm residential fire at Taguig.
Hey, great photos on your training too. Unfortunately, we don't have a LPG tank exercise. But we know, that similar thing might happen. Oh well. I'll keep you posted.
Yes mate, the Maltese Cross picture was in a thread about what would be a more accurate name for the North American (and some other places) recognised FD emblem. And I can't think of the name that was used! The thread was started by an American who believed in adopting a more accurate name.
The 2.5 thread? I was certainly trying hard to keep things civil! I've not always been that well behaved, I must admit. I do try to behave myself though. ;-)
Things are good in my part of the country, but some rain would be nice (it's now winter). I'm losing track of how many years the drought has continued - maybe up to 13 years now.
You're in emergency dispatch eh? You would have liked that bad day we had in February - I think it was something like 5000 calls that day for fire only. Ouch. Mobile phones have been both a blessing and a curse really, we get calls quickly but we get too many people calling as well... Can't win, can we?
Here's a shot of a helicopter just North of Ridgecrest headed towards Fort Irwin... do you remember traveling this route? Mt. Whitney is in the background... : ) CB
