Top Issues Facing Responders:
Not enough free training for members.
Just like training is offered there should be mandatory meeting telling members of all services how to avoid falling into the PTSD hole and teaching them how to network and reach out to others who might be affected by the tragic part of rescue and public service. If you want to know more....ask me!
HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE FFN . FEEL FREE TO ADD ME AS A FRIEND IF YOU WANT TO, ONE CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY FRIENDS IN THIS WORLD . HAVE A GREAT 08 AND STAY SAFE OUT THERE.
Welcome to the Firefighter Nation. In addition to the relatively cool videos and fire scene photos, there are numerous groups, discussions and chat available.
If you have never had the opportunity, take a minute to explore firefighterclosecalls.com and the secret list. This is a wonderful web site to explore and learn from the mistakes of others. It is also, sadly, a roll call of those whom have made the ultimate sacrifice, in their service to their communities.
We have all joined the Public Safety Community for a variety of our personal reasons. Some of us are paid, while others volunteer. Many are firefighters, while others enjoy the EMS side of the house. We have active firefighters, line officers, chiefs, administrative officers, and a number of old timers who have seen most of the mistakes already made at least once. We have firefighters with many many years of experience, and others that, well, don’t. All are welcome here in The Nation. We welcome your input, just as we hope that you learn from the experiences of others.
Personally, I have 31 years service to the local fire department. I have held most line officer positions, and some administrative as well. Now part of the Old Guard so to speak, I am less inclined to go charging into where others are trying to escape. Instead, I choose to monitor the fire scene closely, attempting to ensure the safety of all on the fire scene.
I welcome you to the FFN. Here we all share one common goal.....
Hello Regie; Please Feel free to write send photos and ask questions of my profession. Some of the photos of other members scare me, so I won't be adding them to my list. Stay safe.

Hihi
So your sister was stationed in Keflavik in the SW part of the country... I live in the SE part and work in the East part. :)
It is much more beautiful where I am :)
Reggie,
It's an awesome and total pleasure to get to talk to you and thanks for adding me to your friends list. Yeah, if I was still riding my bike, I'd just take a road trip up to OK and see a bunch of friends all at once. Such is life I guess.
Hey!! It's Not Too Bad Here Supposed To Be WarmTommorrow But Thursday It's Supposed To Be Back Cold Again Like The Low Is 20 And High Is 50 Or SO!! Bundle Up Up There And Stay Warm!!!!!
Oh, well... the reason I'm not riding anymore is because I wrecked my bike back on June 14th. No helmet so it was pretty bad. They flew me to Methodist Hospital of Dallas, was on the table for 8 hours. I had 4 Basil skull fractures and 5 deep cranial bleeds. I died on the table but the surgeon just kept on working on me. After that, was in a coma for 2.5 weeks and in the hospital for about 5 weeks total. After that, I spent the next almost 4 months in physical therapy and rehab. Learned to walk again with walker, then cane and then by myself. Had a patch on one eye at a time for blurred/double vision. Am still fighting to overcome a moderate short term memory loss. Nobody can believe I'm still alive much less back on shift at the F.D. That's why I've got to chill out on the bike thing for a while. I had a 800c.c. Kawasaki Vulcan that was loud and had two tone paint of metalic forest green and pearl white. That's it in a nutshell. ;)
Hi Reggie- Thanks for the comments! Firefighter Ministries doesn't have a membership per se, but we are always looking for volunteers to help us out with scouting for new resources and information for our website. Let me know if you need anymore info!
Hi Reggie
Please take a min. and ck out a great website about two great songs about firefighters, and a story about 13 fire guys that walked from Detroit to New York City after 9 11 www.firemansprayerdvd.com

Hi Reggie,
I'm proud to call people friend when they are real people with views, opinions, salient points and passion, ( the occasional accessory doesn't hurt either). I am honored to have you aboard. I too am from N.Y.C., I grew up on the Island before moving to Brooklyn and then to 72nd, on the west side. Where are you from?
Born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, lived in Midwood Brooklyn and Middle Village Queens. Now Yukon Oklahoma. I hang out in Baldwin and Oceanside when go back to LI and of course my mom still lives in the Lower East Side but I am 100 latina since both parents are from Puerto Rico. So how close to DC are you? I will be there on 2/25-26 for a 9/11 rescue worker rally begging for help.

Hi Reggie,
Keep fighting for medical care for injured first responders. Trust me when I say some of us are fighting with you. I am a professional firefighter (now disabled). I had 12 surgeries. My surgeon paid for the last two out of his own pocket b/c he was so fed up with the delays I was getting from the "system".
Hang in there.
