Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations
Pine Level Fire Department - Alabama - was Assistant Chief when I left Alabama to move to Ohio
My Training:
FIrefighter II, Paramedic, Hazmat Technician & Rail Car Specialist, Diver and Tender Rescue & Recovery, Fire Instructor, and EMS assist Instructor
About Me:
Don't know what else to put here. I have devoted myself to the Fire and EMS service. Don't really have any hobbies anymore, and friends are limited to the people at the station and a few over the net. I do love to teach and hope to get my instructor card soon so I can do more of it.
Day Job:
Paramedic, Firefighter and all that comes with it
Relationship Status:
In a Relationship
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
My father was a policeman for 30 years, my uncle a Fire Chief and policeman, my cousin was a fireman, it was in our family's blood. So one day I said I would like to be a fireman and got asked then why don't you? I couldn't say why not, so that started the road. Since then became a medic and hazmat tech. Guess I just like the rush.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The feeling of Brotherhood, the chance to help the community, and of course playing with FIRE! GRIN
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Low pay in our area causing people to leave for higher paying jobs as soon as they are trained
I knew you were just outside of Toledo. Actualy 4 of us on our department back in '99 wen to South Dakota to pick up a new engine and drove right past your Swanton on the interstate. We wanted to make "time" so we did not stop, though I had wanted to. But figured we woud end up spending longer than we should have.
I do want to head out that way again sometime, no sure when though.
(PS) Not sure why in my first post I called you Ken - I apologize, guess my eyes were not open wide enough.
Kelvin, Thanks Buddy I hope all is well in Ohio. It's ok here in Houston, I moved back here a year ago from NYC to be closer to the family. Stay Safe.
