NYS FF1 and 2, various haz-mat, incident command series, 1,2,3,7, NYS search and rescue,FAST and Arson
About Me:
, Been with the fire service my entire life. My step father was a firefighter and its been my dream to be a fireman. I work for State Department of Transportation as a highway engineer, for the past few years I have helped with several high profile state jobs in my region. I used to be in a band. I enjoy looking and collecting various types of fire equipment, and keeping up to date with my neighboring department "stuff". I also enjoy trucks, looking at them driving them and keeping posted at new technology.
Day Job:
NYSOT Highway Engineer
Relationship Status:
Single
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
The love of helping people, And the brotherhood of the fire service.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Its just a rush that nothing else can ever replace, and very few people understand why I do what I do.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Legal issues regarding equipment mandates. Various requirements brought on by various groups. The issue of dwindling vollunteer forces, and the time and money involved to become an officer. Its very hard to run a BMW department on a used Civic budget

How to paint a helmet.. remove the front piece remove thebourks or extra crap.. Tape the brass , scrape the stickers off, You will need replacements to remain Osha/nfpa approved , rough sand any badspots lightly, use an automotive High heat primer, spray it and let it dry, repeat ... Spray finish color let it dry spray a 2nd coat ... note if your changing from Black to white a couple extra coatsis a good idea , allow each coat 24 hours dry time.. On the underside use either masking tape or tape and a piece of cardboard to protect the liner/inside cut to opening size.. Regular Rustoleum works fine, I've used it on several helmets oryou can buy "special magic" helmet paint at the firestore.com look in the helmet parts sections
after the paint sets 24 hours after the last coat peel the tape off the brass and underside, replace the front piece, replace the bourkes or whatever and replace your reflective stickers per osha standards (as many as as was on it needs tobe on it..) then the helmet willlook all clean and stupid new again...lol its simple .... If yohavent already cehck out the HOW they are made video it tells youhow They paint them they spray the top and hand brush the underside.. go figure
I don't know about that one discussion. Seems a little fishy, you'd think she'd word it more professionally, and not making her very first post here about generalizing and bashing firemen by calling them dumb, if she were really part of some "county committee" on how to discipline this guy.
