Top Issues Facing Responders:
-traffic control and an uneducated public.
-lack of appropriate funding/training for rural agencies and on the same note, the difficulty in approriating funds from state and federal agencies. When we request funding for equipment, no matter how little, I wish we wouldn't have to wait a year or more to get the okay. It's hard to predict what we'll need years down the road. When we request equipment, we usually need it PDQ.

I have been doing it all full time since 1996. I still work as Public Safety Officer. I was basically on the street from 1996 till 2005 with more PD than FD until we had a change at work and now I am on C shift working 24hr fire shifts. Once a few more guys get out of training I will work about 4 or 5 12hr PD shifts then finish my 24 in the fire station.
