Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I work for the University of Alaska Anchorge at our Sports Complex and after having a gentleman have a stroke in our sauna and almost die, then a couple of months later I had a lady who had a heart attack in our pool. I'm also the manager of my son's competition hockey team and I seen some pretty nasty cuts, broken bones and concussions.....so I decided I wanted more training. After I got my EMT certification I joined a volunteer emt group that handle most High School athletic events, moto cross events and special olympic events so that I could keep practicing what I had learned and they do lots training so I'll be ready when it's time to recert.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I want to help others in crisis situations
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Health and Personal Safety issues and shrinking municipal and state budgets to adequately compensate Fire Fighter and EMS personnel.

Do you get to go the games? I have season tickets for the Sioux. If you ever get the chance, you should make a game down here. The Ralph is unbelievable place for college hockey.
Have a good day and talk w/ you later.

Is it nice to see WCHA boy's playing in the pros. It make watching the games a little more intresting. There is a site called siouxsports.com that already has a counter counting down the days until the puck drops. A side note: Is sounds like the WCHA is trying to get it own channel. That would be great. It hard to get game when teams are on the road. Because if the Sioux are on the road we only get the Gophers. I would rather watch paint dry.
    Keep in touch.

Well, it finally happened. TJ Oshie signed with the Blues yesterday. That should make fans happy in the WCHA. He should make a impact and a great addition to the Blues.

Hi Robin, I have to say your Irish is very good! The weather here is much the same as in Anchorage - lots of rain (but then of course in Ireland - what else would you expect!). Talk to you soon and mind yourself. Sláinte!
  • Kurt Kamm

Hey Robin- I live in CA, but I saw a program called "Tougher in Alaska" about the problems of fighting fire in Fairbanks. They have a 6x wheel drive engine which keeps a 2000 gal tank from freezing and all the hose fittings, etc are heated. I'll start right here in good old flammable So Cal

Hey Robin, Conas a tá tu? Great experience with the grizzly alright! - fortunately we don't get that excitement with our wildlife around here thank God! The weather's after picking up here, last week the temperatures were in they're early twenties (Celsius) but it was very humid but since Friday, the sun has come out and it's to last for the next few days (so we'll take advantage of it while we can!). The calls here have quietened (mainly due to weather) but we shouldn't complain I suppose. Talk to you later and stay safe!
