Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I joined to help my community; my mom, dad and stepmom were all on the Rescue Squad when I was growing up.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
It gives me a great feeling being able to help the people in my town
I just got back from Lake George, I'm a sunburned/windblown mess...and have about half an hour to make a transformation into a semi-attractive human being.
Yikes.
I'll shoot you an email tomorrow w/ the details...gotta jet
:)
Good Morning Kim!
All is fine with me. I went to the Academy last week to update my Haz-Mat Tech training from the 24 hour class to the 40 hour one they just came out with. MUCH better class and I enjoyed it. 3 of us from our county team went out, and 2 of us were the top two students!! I got a 100% and my buddy got 98% so I was the Valedictorian and he was Saluditorian (spelling!) It was a great honor for us and we had a great time.
Hope your carnival and parade go great, have a great week!

Hey Kimberly- I just joined the website and saw the back page about favorite firefighter books. I live in Malibu, spent 3 years with LACoFD and CalFire preparing a novel about a boy who comes of age as a wildland firefighter at a helitak camp (Camp 8 LA County). The book has been well received and Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman of the LACoFD liked it enough to send it to the County Board of Supervisors.
Perhaps you would enjoy reading it. The title is One Foot In the Black. You can buy it on Amazon or, if you buy it from the online store of the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, they get the profits. http://wffoundation.org/webstore/index.html.
You can see reviews from firefighters on my website

Let me know what you think of it.

Just a quickie to let you know i made it safe and sound (although I swear to god I drove through a mini-tornado near Syracuse and the state troopers were EVERYWHERE)
I'll be by later to chat before I turn in

Me
The fair last night was CRAZY busy....for a little rural fire department fair...they get thousands of people.
I worked the booth until 11:30 or so, then had to sit there and count a gazillion quarters...
We had fun afterward though :)
Hey there... Having internet problems..new modem on the way from Verizon..so if I drop out for a day or 3 you know why..All is well, check out my 2 new videos
Holy Shit is it weird that you ask that! I do remember a dream from last night and that's why I'm on the Nation this morning. In the dream you and I were on the phone together and Dan was staying at my place. I have no idea what that was all about, so I'll have to consult Freuid!
I guess I need to talk about underwear more often! Usually I'll recuse myself from areas where I have little experience, but last night was cool. I had fun with it, plus any opportunity to make fun of myself I jump on.
Hey Kim, I didn't hang up on ya! I got bounced off YAHOO just before dinner, then had an ambulance call, then dinner, then a run to my mother-in-law's, then a party, then a mutual aid barn fire, then more party...
Nothing last night. I spent the last 2 hours of the night doing a lesson plan on Boyles Law, and the effect of breathing compressed gas at depth. Not nearly as exiting as the conversation of the night before.
