Top Issues Facing Responders:
Short staffing issues and budgets. I think there is a great mis understanding in the medical community of Paramedic skill levels and how they can be more utilized during this time of the nursing shortages going on in our country.It surprises me daily how many people do not know the difference between an EMT and a Paramedic. They are also not aware of the skill level that Paramedics have and they are extremely under utilized.

    Hi there Susie. You seemed to have hit the nail right on the head after reading my profile. I am planning on working as a nurse in either the ER or ICU. I want to start of in the ER, b/c I actually have over 3.5-4 years of experience working as a tech in a level 3 trauma center/ER. I love it there. I plan on starting of in the Indianapolis, IN area. Hopefully I can get into a Level 1 trauma center there. Eventually I want to work as a flight nurse. I do plan on going back and getting my paramedic cert once I finish up w/ school and figure out what's next.

    Awesome career move. We are all trauma junkies in this business or we couldn't do what we do . We just opened a level 1 trauma center here in Salt Lake. It has 56 beds. It also has a 24 hold area with 24. Its is huge.Very busy ER.Has 3 helos stationed there .has room for 4th incoming /outgoing.

    I am not to familiar with personnel in Wash. Terrace. They have a lot of people going through there as they have a FF Academy there and hire new people. I am originally from Grand Junction, Colorado. My wife is from the same area and my kids were born in Spain.
