I got into emergency services because its what my family does. Im a forth generation Fire Fighter. I became a EMT-B 5 years ago. I have been a line officer for a total of roughly 8 of my 11 years ranging from station LT to engine LT to squad LT and now rescue LT for the last 2 years. I LOVE being apart of the rescue company, its more challenging. My company has 2 class a pumpers, 1 brush truck, a trench rescue squad and 1 HEAVY RESCUE (my truck).

Yes; we actively do trench rescue and have been since 1999.
In Illinois, they no longer have a trench rescue curriculum. They have folded trench into a technical rescue curriculum, along with ropes and knots, high angle, low angle evolutions.
We have not had to use it yet. Though, the department continues to practice, practice, practice.
We also have some members that respond with an area-wide team.
If we don't do it, who will?

Good good, and yourself?
Yeah, there's some snow flying - but nothing as scary as they had originally predicted. We had 4 inches of light powder during the day and we still have a light snow coming down now. They estimate 4-7 by midday tomorrow. We shall see... lol.
I'm in Western NY :-) Just outside of Buffalo to be specific.
I think we all are.... soon, soon enough it will be spring. Well, in Buffalo it still snows during the spring, but it's better than saying that it's winter lol.
Yea we have a combo tool on the front. Then we have a winch in the bumper ont the front and one winch that moves and we can put in the rear or eaither side.
