Unfortunatly that was my dream world FD thats definetly not how its run. The current combination systems I have experience with just don't work. I can give you many examples but they all go back to the same thing I said in the thread. Thats why I left the vollie house and thatd why I found a job in an all career system. Its just easier and less stressful. Sorry I couldn't help you out.

Canada is going through it's two months of no snow. Been a very dry summer! I have spent more time replacing parts on my lawn tractor than actually using it. Most times it's cutting 10 acres twice a week, think I have cut the grass 4 times this summer. Lots of grass fires, last past week we have had 4 barn fires and lots of hay..... Soon it will be Moose season....

Auto-Ex.... Fun! When I get a car, before cutting it up I usually do a couple of trainings on how to get someone out of the car. Each person has to be the patient once so they know what it's like. Then I break up the teams and have the one team inside the car well the other team is cutting it. So they all know what it sounds like and how communication is good for working inside and out. Kinda freaks one out when you start cutting or breaking glass when you don't tell anyone.

Well when your ready to burn the corn field, you call me and I will bring the butter... We have some great help in our area for those who donate cars for us. Went to a show a couple of years ago, and the funniest thing happened. Instructor from the states was showing us how to put out car fires. So they lit this little car full of hay when all of a sudden it drove off. Was a standard and left in first gear with the battery still in it. Wires shorted out and drove across a field... Note to self, disco the battery and wheel choke those tires....He was a little embarrassed... The other two had the horn and radio playing....

Shawn...sorry I took so long to respond and thanks for the input. I asked the question because in St. Louis politics of the FD are getting quite messy and holding up hiring and promotions. just wanted to see if we were the norm or out of the norm.
