First Responder, EMT-Basic, Fire Communications, Emergency Medical Dispatch, Public Service Telecommunicator I, Hazardous Materials Awareness, CPR- Healthcare Provider, American Red Cross Bloodborne Pathogens, Iam about to start my FF1 courses.
About Me:
Ive been involved with the fire department ever since I was a child, my father was a firefighter/operator for 33 years for the New Orleans Fire Department. I had always been fascinated by firefighting and EMS. So in high school I studied EMT and became certified. I then got offered a job to be a 911 dispatcher for medical and fire emergencies. My agency serves 10 different departments! Im looking forward to taking the Firefighter I class and becoming a firefighter as well!
Because my father was a fire fighter and I saw what he did for the community and wanted to do the same. Working with the fire department is like a brotherhood well... in my case a sisterhood and I just love it! I basically wanted to be apart of emergency services because I wanted to help the community! It was in my blood!
Why I Love Fire/EMS
helping my community and it is a very respectable job!

Saw you are with St. Tammany; tell Rusty S. I said "hi". I know him from the NFA but we also camped on I-10 at Oak Harbor two years ago for a little party you all hosted there. Hope everyone there is doing much better than they were then.
I want to say 2nd District, but I don't know why that sounds right. He actually started there that week (came over from Bay St. Louis) and I thought he was over there. When we got called to come down, when we rolled up to the staging area there on I-10, here he was walking over to my Suburban- talk about a small world.
Hi Erin, Thanks for adding me! I hope you will love being a dispatcher--It is a tough job and one that you will build a love/hate relationship with! Take care!
Hey Erin, I grew up in the fire service too and have even done time as a dispatcher(EMS)...the blog made me think of too many calls I took back in the day.
Keep up the good work, and remember we dont get anywhere without yall sending us...wink.
Saying hello to a fellow dispatcher! I would love to hear about your center. Check out our center's website if you would like. I have the link on my page. Hope to hear from you. John
