Why I Joined Fire/EMS
kind of an odd story, i worked with a few members over the summer, and they talked very highly of it. then i said to one of them i might be interested in joining. word eventually got back to one of my neighbors who is a ex captain and current warden down there. he caught me off guard and asked me if i was serious about joining. i told him i was then got promptly dragged down to the next company meeting and got started on my paperwork. in the end i'm pretty happy that i got dragged down, because i wouldn't trade it for the world.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
knowing i've helped people at the end of my day
Top Issues Facing Responders:
The top issues facing the fire/EMS services today, especially on long island, is the criticism of the media on the local volunteer departments. Media agencies have called for a complete rework of the system, i feel this is the biggest issue facing our vollie departments today, to convince the public that we are good and continue the traditions of our departments while providing fire/ems services to the public.
