Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I was divorced after 14 years of marriage. I guess that wasn't enough of a challenge for me, I needed something that didn't involve that life. A new physical, intellectual and emotional challenge. Wildland firefighting presented itself to me, and I began my career as a firefighter at age 42. I began structure at 45. I volunteer (POC) in a town that is one square mile in size. I live five miles out of town. I still work wildland as an engine boss (it pays the bills). I recently took the EMT-B course. I passed my practical, now for the written!
Why I Love Fire/EMS
helping people preserve their way of life, their family and property
Top Issues Facing Responders:
unification as a true brotherhood, community support of volunteers

I'm sure you will do fine on your written test. Just remember what they taught you in your lectures.

I read you post on the union article, thanks and welcome!
I would like to get your perspectives on grant writing and how to obtain apparatus in a department with such a limited budget. Let's talk.

Wendy I don't know how they do your testing in Idaho, But In Pa. they use to have use test every 3 years. So that they not only gave you test anixeity but you also ended up with fear of the mailman too. You see if you got a big envelope you passed and your job was safe for another 3 years. If you recieved a small envelope from the state you had to retest or go back to school.

Well, we're seven miles from the word's most active volcano, and lava flows there as we speak. I'd consider that a special need.

Politics...actually I am goingto run for City Council in Corpus next year. Crazy Huh....think Ill run on the Wally Party Ticket. Im kinda a republican, more libertarian, but ya know. Socially centrist, fiscally frugal.

Check out the some of the Groups, I have started up "Close Calls" an area to tell your story of what you did and should not of so others learn. "Roll Calls" this is another group that allows you to tell us about your station and district. "Trainers Corner" is another area that you can read about issues other trainers have or deal with. As well if your not a trainer you can ask questions or state concerns you have. If you have a hard time locating them just go to my site and look at the bottom left hand corner.

Enjoy, be safe and remember we all come home.
