"When the World Trade Center was destroyed, I was traumatized. My uncle Vincent Timmons is a Manhattan High Rise fireman (Battalion 8, Engine 8, Ladder 2) and I was in fear that he was one of the brave souls that lost their lives that day. Fortunately he was not, but I still felt a need to help, indirectly. I immediately joined a local volunteer fire department. After a few years, I moved to Porter and joined their elite organization. I regret not getting involved sooner. Helping people in times of need is the greatest feeling in the world, whether you are rewarded or not."
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The respect and love from the community. People will go out of their way to say thank you, even if you have not directly helped them in any way.
