My Training:
I am a level 2/ emt-basic fireifghter. I have my hazmat operations, ics 100,200,700,& 800 certs. I go to the NFA every year to take classes, mostly classes on NIMS. I strive to become a fire investigator in the near future.
About Me:
I have been with KFD volunteers- Station 33- for the past 5 years. I have been an EMT-B for the past 3 and a half. We are a combination department that does not get along. There are big gaps between the full timers and volunteer staff. We are constantly looked down upon as novices and idiots by most of the full time staff. Alot of the full time staff here were once volunteers somewhere. They have forgotten where they came from and that we are all doing the same job, but here not for the same reasons. The volunteers are here for the community that we all live in, while the majority of the full time staff are here for a paycheck only. This department is in a bad way right now with all the in fighting. I just continue to do my job to the best of my ability.
Day Job:
Corrections Officer
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I've always wanted to be a firefighter growing up. I love being a positive role model for kids that look up to us. The courage, honor, bravery, and strength it takes to do this job is a testament to many, that there are still people willing to help total strangers at a moments notice.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
WHEN CHILDREN SMILE AT ME AND SAY THANK YOU:)
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Trying to get people interested in our job. Why do most police departments get there funding and most fire departments get there funding cut. We need to sell ourselves better. Our numbers are down and casualties are up. We are killing our own by being careless.

Check out the some of the Groups, I have started up "Close Calls" an area to tell your story of what you did and should not of so others learn. "Roll Calls" this is another group that allows you to tell us about your station and district. "Trainers Corner" is another area that you can read about issues other trainers have or deal with. As well if your not a trainer you can ask questions or state concerns you have. If you have a hard time locating them just go to my site and look at the bottom left hand corner.

Enjoy, be safe and remember we all come home.
