About Me:
Been with Caledon for almost 12 years, have enjoyed the people I have met. It's a second family, we joke around and push each other around and press each others buttons. But when the tones go off, we work together and put all other things aside.
I have a job I enjoy, it pays my bills and my habbits of life. This was a job of courage and team work which I missed from my full time job. I get the best of both worlds, a job that pays and a job of reward.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Team Work! Being part of the team.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Working together, find that when dealing with Police / Fire / Ambulance that times we are not working together as a team.
Training is fun, I enjoy learning new things everytime we drill. I have a good time and love the thrill of finally getting something right at a drill or on a call, by myself.
I don't know very much about Guelph at all, except one thing. The finest woman god ever built came to me from there. I am not allowed to cross in up there, they say that I'm a war criminal for the things I did under orders while in the Army.(Airbourne Ranger)I do my job 110% no matter what job I'm doing.
same with us, but you know how companies get off duty. we love messing around with all the companies around us, and it's just too easy to mess with the paid guys instead of our fellow volunteers. when we have a job to do though, we're all business.
Hey Randy,
Yes mate the coaster bus is for transporting firies to incidents.
I also work in a small mining town in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
You are always welcome in my home, you ought to come down next spring. We'll do some fishin and show you some of the prettiest scenery in N.America.Hell you want to visit just come on,it don't have to be no particular season.
SMAT is State Medical Assistance Team....we are a volunteer team that would be deployed to various scenes that require decon or rehab. How are you doing?
hey randy
thanks for the add the photo was taken on the way back from a long drive and i was getting bored , the guys in the front had a good giggle , its a bit of a game with us to see who can make each other laugh the most ya have to have fun i guess you could call it stress relief cheers brett
thanks for the invite to the Roll Call forum. As for your other question, I was twice the size and half the age of the patient that kicked me in the head, but the fact that I already had a head/brain injury from a house fire fall was the killer. Yes, hard to believe I went back to work after the first accident...Tim
Hi Nice to hear from you. I just got back from wheeling and rescue training with our jeep team. Tomorrow Im doing my first theaphy visit with my new Irish Setter. This is her first time. We are going to a Veterans home. Hope you have a great and safe day. Kitn

hey i forgot that we just are about to finsh our new station. it is plenty big for what we need it for. the round about cost was around 1.3 mill. there is still alot to do to it. the station has a bunk room two lounges 4 offices, shower room ,utillty room ,maintance room ,small kitchen up and down stairs bathrooms and a bathroom in the truckroom. our station also has a bar.
We train every Monday for atleasr 2 hours. We are goinig to be very busy the next 4 months. I have a guy from Husqavarna teaching chainsaw safety. I have just finished a 10 hour in-house pump operator lesson that we will be going over starting in 2 wks. Also in-houce essentials, county Hazmat Decon,Auto extrication and ICS 200.
Takes alot of my time, but I love being training officer.
no never rolled a truck ,that is my worsted fear being a truck driver. we never had a incident in our station, but it did happen to a station around harrisburg pa where they killed a person in a car. not a good week for that department.
really? Its not that big of a deal here. I know a firefighter who works full time for one department, works part time for a neighboring department, and volunteers with a department that neighbors that one! He has a pretty good chunk of the west side that he calls home.
This pic appeared in the local paper a couple of years ago. The accident happened on Interstate 81 between Blountville and Kingsport, TN. I can't remember what the tanker was hauling, I think it was Methyl-Ethyl Bad Stuff!!! Anyway, the driver survived the initial crash, but died from burns a couple of days later. I dont think there were any other injuries.
Thanks Randy!
I've got company coming down from Seattle for the weekend but hopefully on Monday I can sit and browse through this site. It looks great! I wonder how come I hadn't heard about it before? Oh well, better late than never. :)
Thanks for the pointers, I appreciate them. Take care and have a great weekend!

I had a great weekend! I got to meet my future sister in law from the Ukraine. (No, my brother couldn't meet just any traditional American girl.) lol But she's a sweetheart and I'm looking forward to having her be a part of the family. I've definitely learned a lot about Ukrainian/Russian culture. I think it's fasinating.
Anyways, no calls this weekend so I had lots of time to visit.
So is Caledon a big city or a rural area or what? Let me know about your department. I'd love to hear about it!
Hello Randy,
Yes I do carry a personal EMT bag in my vehicle. In all honesty I dont know what the name of the company I bought it from. When I did my EMT stuff i had to purchase it for my class. I am sure there should be a EMS website where you can purchase one. I will try to find out more info and then give you the update on where to get one. In any case I hope you have a good night and GOD bless.
