Thanks for the encouragement! Nothing can stop me now. Delay, maybe, but not stop. I didn't let the fervent protests of my husband and other family members prevent me from going through fire school. Mom cried and said, "I don't know why you have to do this!" and my hubby said, "I don't want you running into any burning buildings." Rrrrrrrrright.......He believes me to be dainty and delicate.

I originally got into it for the EMS. In most counties in Ohio, though, EMS is directly linked to the fire department. So, to do EMS, you gotta get the fire card. I didn't want to be a firefighter, until I put my turnout gear on. Then they tortured me with search and rescue and ladder maze and all that other stuff and I fell in love. Ultimately, I'd like to be a flight medic or flight nurse.
    I'll keep you posted.

HiltonHead, Huh! Got any openings?I have been there pretty country. This lil Dept. I'm with is about to get me in trouble, the good ole boys club is lacking in several areas.Mainly training, organization.Really they are a good bunch for the most part but a couple are a pain in the ass.You know the ones that don't do training but know everything there is to know, the kind that show in t shirts and jeans because it's to hot to wear PPE.But they make most every call because it's to hot to have a job too.Sorry I vented on you but I needed a white hat to bitch to,mine won't listen,he's known them all his life and they really good guys at heart.Think I'll get my Redcard back, go out west for a vacation

You're not missing much in PA. I hope it's cooler down in SC than it is up here, though! 90s and really high humidity.
