Retired firefighter and first responder in Michigan. Good to see a sight dedicated to the volunteer. Here in Michigan, the training, tests and expectations are the same for volunteers as full-time paid. But there has always been a divide between those who serve full time and those who respond when called. Same job, same responsibilities, but still the stigma. Hope to see great things from this site!
There wasn't much difference when at the Michigan Fire Fighters Memorial, we said goodby to a fellow firefighter from our neighbor department. A death fighting fire is still a death! The sacrifice is still the same.

Blackball Volunteer Fire Brigade was originally formed in 1965. Today it covers the area from North Stillwater Brigade to Slatey Creek, west of the Grey River. The local terrain is very diverse. The Grey River, Blackball Plateau, Paparoa Ranges and National Park all bound Blackball. The Brigade has an establishment of 16 firefighters. Some members of the Brigade have served their local community for more than 25 years.

Blackball is situated on the West Coast of the South Island approximately 20kms north of Greymouth. Originally a stoping place for early goldminers, the town became established in the late 1800's when coal was discovered and a coal mine was opened. After some turbulent times the government regulated coal mine closed in the mid 1960's and coal mining ceased to be a way of life in Blackball. The population dropped from over 1000 to the under 500 people level it is at today. Some of the most spectacular walks are found near Blackball, in particular the Creosus Track.

Hey Folks, Emergency responders from all disciplines are always interested in a “Plan B” to create an additional stream of income or even long term reliable residual income to augment their retirement.

I am looking for 10 professionals to help me grow the business I have begun. I am looking for dedicated, driven and life savvy individuals who possess strong communication skills, and are interested in building their own business career. They need to be coachable. This is straight commission role. Part time. Set own hours. Who do you know that may be interested? There is on-the-job training about the company and the green, eco-friendly products.  Please contact me, I will give you the information you need to make a well informed decision to see if this would be a good fit for both of us!  Thanks, Fire Chief (Ret.) John Bierling, John@Yourgoals.biz
