To all my Brothers and Sisters.
I am asking for prayer for my Father. He is not doing so good anymore and his health is getting very bad. He is having problems with his heart, lungs, neck, back, and now his liver. He has Upper Respiratory Disease, General Disk Disease in his lower back, crushed disk in his neck and the Doctor fused from disk 2 to disk 7 and put a medal plate and 7 screws in his neck, and now his Liver is messing up. Some people say that there is no way he should be alive, but he is still here and fighting to stay alive.
What is so hard about the hole thing is that, His not only my Father but my mentor, teacher, and a Brother Firefighter. So I am having a hard time dealing with everything. I am asking for prayer to help my Family and I to be able to deal with it all. And any advice is welcome and thankful.

Be safe and God bless Bulldozer
  • Bulldozer

Anyone else have paint chipping problems, i'm not talkin battle scars, the paint just seems to chip off from daily handling. I guess its time too do a little paint repair. Or should the whole lid be repainted?
    Thanks,
    Fraternally,
    Rick Westerman
  • Brandon Roark

rick...my helmet was chipping and bubbling after 6 mths of use. I repainted it with 1 shot signers paint...no major problems since.

I would imagine that chipping on the edges of the brim and the ribs/quad seams will always be a problem

I've started a new T-shirt company that is strictly for Fire Departments. As the son of a Fallen Firefighter, I wanted to use it as a way to give back to the ones that were there in my family's time of need. So I decided to donate a dollar of every shirt made to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Contact me for info/prices, Thank You. shcmyers31@yahoo.com

Hey all you New Englander F.O.O.l.S. Many of you have missed a really informative class today in Byfield, Ma . It dealt with working with shortened budgets and shortened crews. How to prevent complacancy on the fire ground and prevent you our Brither's and Sister's from getting killed. Pay attention to your F.O.O.L.S. website and hope to see you all at the next training

  • Alan McGuigan

I just purchased myself a High eagle antique leather fire helmet its either from Yonkers fire department in New york Or York fire department in Maine which is most likely where it’s from It looks like it would be early 1900 or late 1890???Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I can preserve the helmet without taking away any of its value the helmet is in original condition and is in awesome shape Any suggestion or recommendations?
  • Alan McGuigan

Need some help I am looking for some information on an antique fire helmet I have that may have come from either Yonkers Fire Department in New York or York Fire department in Maine anyone with any information or history on this helmet and could share with me it would be greatly appreciated

  • SMOKEnPipesJim

Alan It Could also be Yarmouth NS,, I know they used them though I dont recall the frontpieces they used in Yarmouth...as Far as preserving the helmet, I would keep it in a moderatly Cool, Dry space if you feel that the leather is SO dry, that it may be dryrotted and ready to fall off the metal frame don't mess with it because that might happen..:) if the leather is actually cut open from the heat and wrinkling this might not be the best option, and IT will ultimately ruin the Patina, making the leather look NEWer But using "snoseal" which is a beeswax based Leather boot water proofer and "fixer upper" the stuff is softer then Cake bees wax and YOu could always warm it up either in warm or hot water or in the microwave for 20-30 seconds Max and then using a soft cloth Massage it in just be careful, the cracks will absorb the bees wax but it will absorb it into the "skin" without OVER softening another option I would freely consider trying is massaging in any simple skin conditioner type salve but rememeber when applying less is best , even if it take weeks to complete rather then making it into a glob that may get absorbed in 3 or 4 years..lol
