When i first began as a cadet at our department our county dispatch center always tests at 6:30 and our station is the this tone in the sequence, so everytime i'd be out at the station it would never fail i'd leap out of whatever chair i was sitting or jump and start running towards my gear even sometimes. Everyone at the station always got a laugh out of it to say the least, but thankfully i got over it now and learned to slow down.
at my station the cadets can do everything a regualr firefighter can do but we do not pack up and go into buildings and were not on the end of a hose but we do all the grunt lifting and everything
i remember the fist call i went on i was so hyped when our tone went off i ran over to my gear put it on got in the back of the truck i was so hyped hoping it was a mva or something like that but then about half way out of the driveway i relized we werent using the lights or sirens so i looked to the guy next to me and i asked why the lights and sirens aint on then he said its just a few fuel spills around town from a school bus dont be to excited so i spent the next 4 hours cleaning up fuel around town
o man, this was a long time ago, my first call was for a mva, with possible ejection. When we got there, there was a foul smell in the air. my LT, C-1426 told me to stay by the truck. i later found out it was a car vs motorcycle, the guy went through the windshield through the back window into the bed. no helmet, and his big toe was touching his nose. that i will never forget.
Well I got two stories for yall.

One was like a 4-5 weeks back. It was like 80 something degrees out side. Me and one of the new guys were leaveing my grandparents house. The Tones got set off for Ethridge Department. A 10-72 motorcycle fire on so and so road. Well we were back up for that area and me and him went to the station. Missed the first truck cause 3 seats and 4 four fire fighters there amd 2 explorers(US). So the first truck left. We got in the car and followed. Off course the new guys was like ready to pee himself. We got there and put it out and every thing. So we were sitting there talking with the other guys from Ethridge about how hot it is. The new guy goes. "I am so glad I ain't wearing pants" Every one of us just steped over 1 step away from him. The Asst. Chief of our department was there and he said "Are you in the nude" . He was like what?? You said your not wearing pants. And by that time all of us wear bursting out laughing. He finally relized what he said and his face waas as red as the fire truck. "I AM WEARING SHORTS!!". Still embaressed till this day.

This storey is about me. I put it simple. First Fire. Local cabnet makeing place pant shop cought on fire. Got there and it was a big one. Me and Chelsea pulled a 2 1/2 hose to the hydrant acrossed the road. Our post advisor told me to stay here and make sure no engine runs over the hose. He foregot me and I was there for like one hour and a half just sitting on top of the hydrant. And there was a building blocking the view of the fire so I never got to see the thing all in flames. I was so mad.
WE train with the men and we dont go into burning buildings but we do have controlled burn training
i have to say the best thing iv done was our dept was toned out for a field fire which me and two others were at a bon fire right by were it was so we jumped in the car and started to were it was when we relized the field fire was the bon fire we were at so we had a good laugh when the guys walked up to us and asked wat was going on
I got sprayed with the deckgun, also i tripped when i was getting in my bunker gear pants, i also hit my head with a hose cupling
THE RULES IS NOT TO ANYTHING DUMB
