Maxim. I started on a 63 open cab and we are now running a 1989. One of the last one's made by Maxim. I also have grow fond of Pierce, we have 5 in the fleet on the base. Have little down time with them.
Pierce.
Definitely Ferrara Fire Apparatus all three fronlines are ferrara, as well as our ladder truck thats being deliverd in Oct.

Amer Lafrance has some nice trucks as well, not bad with the freightliner/mercedes pumper/tankers theyre puttin out.

E-One blows, our neighboring dept's BRAND NEW ladder truck has been in the shop longer than its been in their station.
Well I have always liked E-One and Pierce
After being in the service for 32 years, I have had dealings with many types of apparatus. Pierce, E-One, Howe, Seagraves, LTI, Sutphen, Mack, KME, Salsbury, Quality to name a few. Although we all have a favorite piece of equipment, I guess what it all comes down to is the service that you get from the dealer that you buy it from. The old Seagraves were hard to beat, Pierce is probably my choice of them all, the water governor on the ALF was a challenge to get used to, but they all have good points and bad. But one good thing about the Pierce is that they are responsible for the whole truck. Not having to deal with another vendor is something goes wrong. But I feel that the main thing that makes a truck good is the dealer and the service that you get with it.
well we have an e-one, an fmc, and a mack. of all of them the mack is my baby
I like the E-ONE, KME, and Smeal manufactures, We just about a year ago got a smeal to replace an E-ONE that we had on the front line, now we just recently did the designs for a nother smeal to replace another E-ONE that we had were still going to keep the E-ONE's as reserve engines. Most of the guys like the smeal's so thats who were working with for our fleat for the most part.
E-One all the way
weened on MACK.. but that was yesterday.... today if had to choose.. PIERCE...for new... and E-ONE for retrofits...
I would have to say Boise Mobie Equipment (BME)
Sadly, my favorite is no longer in service. We have a 1989 FMC/Spartan custom that's been a workhorse it's entire time in service. It was supposed to be a reserve truck, but because our quint and new engine are KME's and both currently in the shop...it's still in frontline service. I've had the opportunity to operate other FMC's in my time, and I loved each one of them. I also liked the old '77 American LaFrance/Ford I used to drive. It ate wheel cylinders like kids eat candy...but if you could get it stopped at the scene it would pump as long as you had water to pump and fuel to run thru the 3208 Cat. Being a late 70's model LaFrance you had to have a tetnus shot to operate it though.

I liked the 1995 EOne pumper we had at my old station. It had an underpowered International chassis on it...but the EOne part of the truck was functional and firefighter friendly.

As I said before we have a KME Quint and a KME/Freightliner engine. Both are in the shop, with the engine having spent the vast majority of it's first year of life out of service. KME has become a punchline around our department. We have a computer that we have had multiple problems with....I put KME on the top of the monitor. When someone gets lazy and doesn't pull their share we call them KME. You get the drift here? LOL
its kmart engineering at its best
